Nicholas was a member of the militia under the Crown during the French and Indian War
The swore allegiance to the King and left NY in 1778, crossed into Canada via Niagara, stopped in Hamilton and continued to New Johsnon (Cornwall).He also was in Butler's Rangers.
His son John had a daughter Alice who married a Davidson and their son Thornton Mattice Davidson drowned on the Titanic.

he married Elizabeth Kast in 1715
he was the oldest son and had 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls.
He was elected Deacon of the High & Low Church in 1743,1748 and 1753

he was a farmer on land that was worked by the family for over 2000 years
sailed to America in 1709 with the generosity of Queen Ann
they landed on Nutten Island (now Governor's Island) in NY harbor
he fought in Queen Ann's War against Canada in 1711
