Fredrick Mattice
Fredrick once had to fist fight an Indian Chief who he accused of stealing his chickens. The chief was knocked out and carried away. The fight took place on "The Round Top" Fredrick had to stay out of sight for a for about a week in fear of his life. Hiding in the woods, he'd only come out when signaled by Gertrude. Sometime later, they all smoked the peace pipe and was all was forgiven. Fredrick served as a private in the Revolutionary War for J. Hagar's Company, 15th NY, Albany Co. Militia.
