Born, 1701 in Duerhiem, Altzheim, Rhineland, Germany.
While in Germany, he more than likely worked in the vineyards with
his father.
Nicholas was 9 years old when he and his family sailed for New York.
They arrived in 1710.
At that time his family consisted of his Mother and Father, two brothers
and three sisters.
In 1715, at the age of fourteen, he lived with the family of
Johann George Kast, in the area of Schoharie, New York.
Records show, he married Anna Elisabeth Kast, daughter of
Johann George Kast in 1715.
Their firstborn, Johann Nicholas Mattice, Arrived May 17, 1718.
They eventually had eleven children, the last being
Johanis Mattice, born, Dec 25, 1750.
Nicholas lived the rest of his life in the New York area.
