This is a very interesting family and I am enjoying helping them. The Foster
line goes back to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of Mayflower, also Stephens
Hopkins and Constance Snow of Mayflower so I am really having fun with that.
Just about have it proved. Working with New England Hist. Library in Boston
on some birth records. The Descendants of Mayflower have been very helpful
and the Texas Historian in particular.
Now back to the Mattice family. Do you think Henry Mattice marr. Catherine
Melchoir was son of Henrich Mattice and Marie Magdalena Ingold?? It looks
like our fam history skipped a generation and our family should be
Casper>Henrick?Johnan Hans>Henrich>John H>Adam. Is that right??
I may need more help with that lineage.

P. S. Henry the oldest son, in early manhood journeyed to the Pacific Coast.
The history of the city of Olympia Wash names him as having laid the first
streets. During the gold rush to Ca he left his property- first deeding it
over to his brother Manely. Returning from the gold firled with a belt of
gold around his body, he was held up, robbed and murdered. On notice of his
death, Nancy Mattice, his mother wrote verses to his memory. (Mother Nancy
wrote poetry).
The Adam Mattice Cemetery established by Adam is on the slope across the
Catskill Creek above where the mill stood. The tall marble monument marks the
resting place of Adam Mattice and Nancy his wife. Adam was a leading citizen
of Livingstonville, was a member of the State Legislature, Town Supervisor,
built and operated saw and grist mill in Greene Co NY
