2 CONC husband of Stella Louise Mattice KNAPP.  It is has been told that his 
2 CONC parents, being Roman Catholic wanted him to enter the priesthood.
2 CONT He did not want to so, with the help of the local railroad station agent, 
2 CONC he ran away.  For reasons of his own, probably to remain hidden, he 
2 CONC adopted the name KNAPP and married our mother, stella, under that name.

2 CONC National Cemetery along side of husband and youngest son. Survived by 
2 CONC brothers John Edward Knapp and Leland Mattice Knapp. She was a graduate 
2 CONC of Vernon Elementary School and Girls Polytechnic High School. !This lady 
2 CONC had a hard life with much sadness.  She lost her 2nd son, a Downs 
2 CONC Syndrome child at age 12, her husband at age 64, and her 1st son at age 
2 CONC 38. In that order, over a 20 year period. There is also evidence that she 
2 CONC had been a battered wife.  This occurred at a time before battered women 
2 CONC became such an item in the news and the courts.  I feel that her later 
2 CONC years were much happier and rewarding, she was free to come and go as she 
2 CONC pleased, being responsible to
2 CONT none but herself. Much of her spare time she was rewarded by visiting 
2 CONC shuttins (a group calling themselves the ChinUps, of which she was a 
2 CONC member) she had met while being herself a shuttin while she cared for her 
2 CONC ailing husband. 
2 CONT !We (Leland, et.al.) sent a spray with message: From your brother Leland 
2 CONC and all of his family,  We will never forget you. Clarence Walker Florist 
2 CONC via University City Florist. Funeral was officiated by Elder Jerry Leslie 
2 CONC of the Portland Area Bible Students of which Florence was a member.
